Jeep Gladiator Custom Builds in Kansas City

The Jeep Gladiator is the only midsize truck with true 4x4 Jeep DNA — solid axles, removable doors and top, and serious off-road capability from the factory. At American Fusion Wheels, we take that factory potential and turn it into a fully built truck that handles the trail, the highway, and the job site.

We build every Gladiator trim. Sport and Sport S — the most popular starting points for budget-friendly builds. Dana 30 front, Dana 44 rear, part-time 4x4. We add lifts, wheels, tires, bumpers, and rock lights to transform the Sport into a capable trail truck. Willys — the value-packed trail trim with locking rear diff and rock rails. We upgrade to 35s with a 2.5 to 3.5-inch lift and steel bumpers. Rubicon — Dana 44 front and rear, electronic lockers, disconnecting sway bar, and 33-inch mud-terrains. We push Rubicon Gladiators further with Fox 2.5 coilovers, 37-inch tires, and heavy armor.

Mojave — Jeep's desert-rated trim with Fox internal bypass shocks and reinforced frame. We build on that desert foundation with longer-travel suspension, larger tires, and chase racks. Overland — the feature-rich trim many buyers turn into an overlanding platform with bed racks, RTT mounts, and auxiliary lighting. High Altitude — benefits from a leveling kit, custom wheels, and upgraded tires for a more aggressive stance.

The Gladiator's 5-foot bed sets it apart from every other Jeep. We maximize that utility with tonneau covers from Bestop, BAKFlip, and RetraxPRO. Bed racks for rooftop tents, gear bins, and recovery equipment. Spray-in bed liners, cargo management systems, and sliding trays keep gear organized for the job site or the campsite.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about jeep gladiator builds at American Fusion Wheels.

What Gladiator trims do you modify?

Every Gladiator trim. Sport, Sport S, Willys, Rubicon, Mojave, Overland, and High Altitude — plus every special edition and package. We know the differences that matter: Rubicon has Dana 44 axles and electronic lockers, Mojave has Fox internal bypass shocks and wider front track, Sport and Willys run Dana 44 rear and Dana 30 front. Each trim has different suspension geometry and clearance requirements, and we spec parts accordingly.

What is the best lift height for a Jeep Gladiator?

It depends on your tire size and how you use your Gladiator. For 33-inch tires, a 2 to 2.5-inch lift works well and keeps the ride comfortable for daily driving and towing. For 35s, most JT owners go with a 2.5 to 3.5-inch lift. For 37s, you will need 3.5 to 4.5 inches minimum. The Gladiator is heavier and longer than a Wrangler, so spring rates and shock valving need to account for that extra weight — especially if you tow.

How does the Gladiator differ from a Wrangler for modifications?

The Gladiator shares the same front end as the JL Wrangler, but the similarities stop at the B-pillar. The JT has a longer wheelbase, heavier curb weight, and different rear suspension geometry that requires Gladiator-specific components. We do not bolt on Wrangler parts and call it done — every lift kit, shock, spring, and control arm we install is engineered for the JT platform. The added weight means you need load-rated tires and properly valved shocks.

Can you build a Mojave Gladiator for more off-road capability?

Absolutely. The Mojave is already desert-rated with Fox internal bypass shocks, unique spring rates, and a wider track. We build on that foundation with upgraded Fox 2.5 coilovers, longer-travel control arms, 35-inch or 37-inch tires, steel bumpers, and bed-mounted chase racks. The Mojave's suspension is tuned for high-speed desert running — we enhance that capability while adding armor and accessories for a complete off-road platform.

What bed accessories do you install on Gladiators?

Tonneau covers — hard folding, soft rolling, and retractable from Bestop, BAKFlip, and RetraxPRO. Bed racks for overland setups, rooftop tents, and gear storage. Spray-in bed liners for protection. Cargo management systems including dividers, tie-downs, and sliding trays. Trail racks that mount above the bed rails for spare tires, hi-lift jacks, and recovery gear. We customize the bed for work, overlanding, or weekend hauling.

Can the Gladiator still tow after a lift kit?

Yes, but it needs to be done right. The Gladiator is rated for up to 7,650 lbs towing capacity. A properly installed lift with correctly valved shocks and load-rated springs maintains towing capability. We pay special attention to spring rates and shock compression damping on Gladiators that tow — soft off-road springs can cause excessive squat under trailer tongue weight. Your JT should perform on the highway with a loaded trailer just as well as it does on the trail.

Can you build a Gladiator for overlanding?

The Gladiator is arguably the best stock overland platform available. We install bed racks, rooftop tent mounts, auxiliary lighting, onboard air compressor systems, storage drawers, and water tank setups. Combined with a moderate lift, all-terrain tires, and a front bumper with a winch, your Gladiator becomes a capable expedition vehicle ready for multi-day trips through the Flint Hills or beyond.

How much does a Gladiator build cost?

A basic lift and tire package starts around $2,500. A mid-level build with lift, wheels, tires, bumpers, and a tonneau cover runs $6,000 to $10,000. Full off-road or overland builds with suspension upgrades, armor, lighting, bed rack, and accessories range from $12,000 to $25,000+. Financing is available including no-credit-check options — call 913-291-2027 for a detailed quote based on your Gladiator trim and build goals.

★★★★★
"Built my Gladiator Mojave into the perfect overland rig. They installed a 2.5-inch Mopar lift, 35-inch Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws on Fuel Vectors, a Prinsu bed rack with a Roam rooftop tent mount, and KC HiLiTES aux lights. The bed rack was the best call — it gives me full bed access underneath while the tent sits on top. Perfect setup for camping at Clinton Lake and the Flint Hills. They routed all the wiring for the lights clean through the bed — you cannot even see it. The Gladiator rides great with the Mopar lift and the Falkens are dead quiet on the highway."
