Lowering Kits & Coilovers
Lowering springs, coilovers, air suspension, and drop kits for cars, trucks, and SUVs. Professional installation with alignment included at American Fusion Wheels in Shawnee, KS.
Lowering Kits & Coilovers — Cars, Trucks & SUVs
A lowered vehicle is not just about looks — although the stance improvement is undeniable. Dropping your ride height lowers the center of gravity, improves cornering grip, reduces body roll, and transforms how your car or truck feels on the road. At American Fusion Wheels, we install lowering kits on everything from Chargers and Mustangs to Silverados and F-150s — using the right method for your vehicle, your budget, and how you actually drive it.
We offer four main approaches to lowering your vehicle:
- Lowering springs — Replace factory springs with shorter, progressive-rate springs from Eibach, H&R, or Tein. Fixed drop of 1 to 2 inches. Most affordable option. Uses your existing struts or shocks. Ideal for daily drivers who want a cleaner look without breaking the bank.
- Coilover systems — Replace the entire strut and spring assembly with adjustable units from BC Racing, KW, Tein, or Fortune Auto. Dial in ride height and damping stiffness to your exact preference. The performance choice for drivers who want handling gains and adjustability.
- Air suspension — Full air ride systems from Air Lift Performance, AccuAir, or Universal Air. Adjust ride height on-the-fly from your phone or a controller. Drop to the ground at shows, raise up for speed bumps and driveways. The ultimate show and versatility setup.
- Drop kits (trucks) — Belltech, McGaughys, and DJM kits with drop spindles, lowering shackles, flip kits, and control arms. Specifically engineered for trucks — 2/4, 3/5, 4/6, and 5/7 drop configurations available for Silverado, Sierra, F-150, and Ram.
Every lowering installation at American Fusion Wheels includes a full Hunter alignment. This is non-negotiable — lowering your vehicle changes camber, caster, and toe settings, and driving without a proper alignment will destroy your tires within a few thousand miles. We set your alignment to manufacturer specs adjusted for the new ride height, ensuring even tire wear and predictable handling.
Kansas City roads present unique challenges for lowered vehicles. We know where the bad potholes are, which railroad crossings are rough, and how low you can go without making your daily commute miserable. We will recommend a drop height that looks great and works for your actual driving conditions — not just what looks good parked.

Why Choose American Fusion Wheels for Lowering Kits
Professional service, quality parts, and expert installation — all under one roof in Shawnee, KS.
Aggressive Stance — Done Right
A properly lowered vehicle transforms the entire look — eliminating wheel gap, improving proportions, and giving your ride that aggressive, planted stance. We install lowering springs, coilovers, air suspension, and drop spindles to achieve the exact drop height you want without sacrificing ride quality or bottoming out on Kansas City roads.
Improved Handling & Performance
Lowering your vehicle lowers the center of gravity, which directly improves cornering grip, reduces body roll, and makes the car feel more responsive. For performance drivers in the KC area, a properly set up coilover system with the right spring rates can dramatically improve your driving experience on both the street and the track.
Multiple Lowering Methods
Every vehicle and every goal is different. We offer lowering springs (simplest, most affordable), coilovers (adjustable height and damping), air suspension (adjustable on-the-fly), and drop spindles (for trucks needing maximum front drop). We help you choose the right method for your vehicle, budget, and how low you want to go.
Top Suspension Brands
We carry and install lowering components from the performance suspension industry's best: Eibach, H&R, BC Racing, KW Suspension, Air Lift Performance, Belltech, McGaughys, and Tein. No generic springs from unknown brands — only proven products backed by manufacturer warranties and real-world performance data.
Alignment Included
Every lowering installation includes a full Hunter alignment to ensure your vehicle tracks straight, your tires wear evenly, and your handling is optimized for the new ride height. Skipping alignment after a drop is the fastest way to destroy a set of tires — we never let a lowered car leave without proper alignment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about lowering kits at American Fusion Wheels.
How much does it cost to lower a car in Kansas City?
Lowering costs depend on the method and your vehicle. Lowering springs start around $250 to $500 for parts plus $300 to $500 for installation and alignment. Coilover systems range from $800 to $2,500+ for parts plus $400 to $700 for installation and alignment. Air suspension systems range from $1,500 to $4,000+ for parts plus $800 to $1,500 for installation. Truck drop kits from Belltech or McGaughys typically run $500 to $1,500 for parts plus installation. We provide exact quotes based on your vehicle and goals.
What is the difference between lowering springs and coilovers?
Lowering springs replace your factory springs with shorter, stiffer springs to achieve a fixed drop — typically 1 to 2 inches. They are the most affordable option and use your factory struts or shocks. Coilovers replace the entire strut and spring assembly with an adjustable unit — you can dial in ride height, damping stiffness, and rebound to your exact preference. Coilovers cost more but offer superior adjustability and performance. For daily drivers who want a clean drop, springs are great. For performance-focused builds or shows, coilovers are the way to go.
How low can you go on Kansas City roads?
Kansas City roads are not always smooth — potholes, railroad crossings, and rough patches on I-70 and I-35 are real concerns for lowered vehicles. For daily drivers, we typically recommend a 1.5 to 2.5 inch drop as the sweet spot — low enough to look great and improve handling without constantly bottoming out. Air suspension lets you go lower at shows and raise up for daily driving. We assess your driving conditions and recommend a drop height that looks good without making your car undriveable on KC streets.
Can you lower a truck?
Yes. Truck lowering is one of our specialties. We install Belltech, McGaughys, and DJM drop kits for trucks — including drop spindles for the front and lowering shackles, hangers, or flip kits for the rear. Popular KC truck drops include 2/4, 3/5, and 4/6 configurations on Silverados, Sierras, F-150s, and Rams. We also install air suspension for trucks that need adjustable ride height — low for shows, raised for hauling.
Do you install air suspension?
Yes. We install complete air suspension systems from Air Lift Performance, AccuAir, and Universal Air. Air suspension gives you the best of both worlds — drop your vehicle to the ground for shows and meets, then raise it back up to normal ride height for daily driving. The system includes air struts or bags, a compressor, a tank, management system, and a controller. Full installation typically takes a day and includes alignment.
Will lowering my car void the warranty?
Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a dealer cannot void your entire warranty because of a lowering modification. They can only deny a specific warranty claim if they prove the modification directly caused the failure. Quality lowering springs and coilovers from major brands rarely cause warranty issues. That said, if you are concerned about warranty coverage, we recommend keeping your factory parts so they can be reinstalled if needed.
Do I need new wheels and tires when I lower my car?
Not necessarily, but many customers upgrade wheels at the same time for the best visual result. Lowering a car often changes the ideal wheel size — a slightly wider wheel with lower-profile tires fills the wheel well better on a lowered vehicle. We can advise on the best wheel and tire combination for your specific drop height. If your current wheels and tires clear at the new ride height, you can absolutely keep them.
How long does lowering installation take?
Lowering spring installation typically takes 3 to 5 hours including alignment. Coilover installation takes 4 to 6 hours including setup, adjustment, and alignment. Air suspension is a full-day project — 6 to 10 hours depending on the system complexity and vehicle. Truck drop kits take 4 to 8 hours depending on the drop configuration. We recommend scheduling in advance so we can dedicate the time your build needs.
