Tacoma Tire Upgrade Path
Level 1: Stock Fitment Upgrade (No Lift)
Size: 265/75R16 (31.7") or 275/70R16 (31.1")
Fits on stock suspension with zero rubbing. Gives a slightly more aggressive look without any modifications. Top picks: BFGoodrich KO2, Falken AT3W.
Level 2: 33s with Leveling Kit
Size: 285/70R17 or 33x12.50R17
Requires a 2-3" leveling kit or spacer lift. Minor fender liner trimming may be needed at full lock. Perfect daily-driver upgrade. Top picks: Nitto Ridge Grappler, BFGoodrich KO2, Toyo AT III.
Level 3: 35s with 3"+ Lift
Size: 315/70R17 or 35x12.50R17
Requires 3"+ suspension lift, fender trimming (cab mount chop often needed on 2005-2023 Tacomas), and upgraded control arms. Top picks: Nitto Trail Grappler, Toyo MT, BFGoodrich KM3.

Cab Mount Chop — The Tacoma Problem
If you run 35s (or even some 33s) on a Tacoma, you will rub the cab mount at full lock. The solution is the "cab mount chop" — cutting and re-welding the cab mount for clearance. We do this regularly — it is a well-documented modification.
