What a Leveling Kit Actually Does

Your truck left the factory with the front end sitting 1–2 inches lower than the rear. That’s factory rake — designed so the nose doesn’t dip when the bed is loaded. But unless you’re hauling heavy loads every day, that nose-down look just doesn’t look right. A leveling kit raises the front to match the rear, giving your truck a level, more aggressive profile. A leveling kit only raises the front of your truck 1–3 inches to match the rear height. It’s affordable ($150–$400), quick to install (about an hour), and has virtually no impact on ride quality. A lift kit raises the entire vehicle 3–8+ inches with new springs, shocks, and control arms. Lifts run $800–$6,000+ and are a full-day job. If you want a cleaner stance and slightly bigger tires, a level is perfect. If you want real ground clearance and room for 35″+ tires, you need a lift. We install both.

Types of Leveling Kits We Install

The type of leveling kit your truck needs depends on its front suspension design:

• Strut spacers — for Ford F-150, Toyota Tundra, and other strut-equipped trucks. They bolt on top of the strut assembly to add 2–2.5 inches of ride height. Quick to install and very effective.
• Coil spacers — for Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, Ram 1500, and trucks with coil spring front ends. The spacer sits on top of or below the coil to raise the front. Slightly more involved than strut spacers but still a fast job.
• Torsion keys — for older GM trucks with torsion bar front suspensions. Aftermarket keys replace the factory adjusters to allow more pre-load on the torsion bars, which raises the front end mechanically.
